Our mission is to support the evolution of skateboarding in Nicaragua and throughout Central America, build local communities and international connections, and to motivate + foster local youth through sport.

Skateboarding is a powerful force

The START

In April of 2021, Love Park Collective received over 30 donated new + used skateboards from a small skate shop on the East Coast called Nomad Supply Company. With the help of a small crowd-funding campaign, boards were shipped to Managua + distributed among the local youth in parts of Nicaragua. After seeing the appreciation + motivation that these boards brought to local communities, Love Park teamed up with Skate Central America and 10 skate shops across the US to collect over 400 skateboards in August of 2021. In March 2023, we received 200 long-awaited donated skateboards from our friends in Austria.

Our THEORY of CHANGE

Skateboarding brings together community and develops individuals. It is a unique way to engage youth and bring people together at the intersection of sport, culture, and transportation. Through our programs + events, our mission is to support the action sports education of youth in Nicaraguan communities and to exemplify the benefits of this physical practice to a new generation of youth that are better equipped to tackle challenges in their own lives.

What we are doing

We believe that ALL kids deserve the chance to have their very own first skateboard, so we started to collect and refurbish skateboards to distribute to youth who could not afford their own. Our goal is to assist local youth with their future goals and development, provide a safe and positive learning environment, and cultivate life skills needed to avoid involvement with drugs and violence, through the physical determination of skateboarding.

Ways to Help

Your participation is paramount in our ability to continue our mission to support the action sports education of youth in Nicaraguan communities, to increase awareness and opportunities for all to participate in the action sport of skateboarding, and to understand the benefits of this physical practice to the individual.

  • Donate to help throw our next skate event, the Central America Invitational 2023, in Nicaragua on November 17 +19, with contestants from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, + Panama.

  • Skateboard + skate related item, new or used - complete skateboards, decks, wheels, trucks, hardware, bearings, protective gear like pads and helmets, skate shoes, socks, and clothing
